The distance measuring part of this tool is great when used indoors. Its precision and speed are excellent. Outside, though, is another matter. The laser is not bright enough to reach a 200 foot object outdoors during daylight unless you are extremely careful. If you need to measure outdoors with this tool, best do so near dusk or at night when the laser will show up bright. That's really my only criticism; the light is just not powerful enough for the range advertised. This tool also has a neat height calculator that measures distance to the base of a tower, distance to top, and calculates height. But again, that is very much limited ...
