I know many people already have a hammer drill and these carbide core bits will do the job if the material can be cut safely with a hammer action. For either materials where we don't want to take a chance with cracking or blowing out the back or where speed is important I much prefer that our guys use a dry cutting diamond core bit attached to an angle grinder. When working on a ladder they are two feet closer to the wall which makes the operation a lot safer.
